When You Are Down in the Doldrums
By Greg Laurie

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of

mind let each esteem others better than himself.—Philippians 2:3

Maybe you find yourself a little depressed today. I understand there is clinical

depression and I am not speaking of that, but rather of those who may be “down

in the dumps.” You might be in the doldrums even though you are in good health,

you had a meal today, and you have clothes on your back and a roof over your

head. Maybe you are down because you know someone else has it a little better

—or maybe a whole lot better—than you do. If so, then I have a 10-step solution

for depression.

Step Number 1: Do something for someone else who has greater

needs than you.

Step Number 2: Repeat step Number 1 nine more times.

Not only has God told us it is happier to give than receive, but scientific research

shows the same.

It is well documented that volunteering elevates mood in most people.

This phenomenon has been dubbed “the helper’s high.” It has been assessed

biologically in brain-imaging studies. It has also been looked at in research on

endorphins.I have never experienced the “runner’s high” but I do know about the

“giver’s high.” If someone asks you what you are doing on the weekend, you can

say, “Getting high!” Whoa, what? “Yes, at church, giving to the Lord and serving

others!” Proverbs 11:25 says that those who refresh others are themselves

refreshed. When we take our eyes off ourselves, it puts things into perspective.

As a pastor, I visit people in hospitals. I can have the sniffles and be thinking,

poor me, and then go and visit someone who is critical condition. I leave just

thanking God that I can walk out of the hospital. The Bible tells us to “do nothing

out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above

yourselves” (Philippians 2:3 NIV). In other words, never let selfishness or conceit

become your motive in life.Selfishness is at the root of almost all sins. Most of

the quarrels and conflicts we have in life occur because self is either being

threatened, challenged, or ignored. It is all about us. As James 4:1 asks, “What

is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil

desires at war within you?” (NLT). How true is that? We all want our own way.

And that is prewired in us from the earliest days. The Bible says, “For everyone

has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (Romans 3:23 NLT).

There is no getting around it: We are all naturally selfish.Selfishness ruins so

many things in life. Why did Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit? Because

Satan told them, “You will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5

They were selfish.Think of all of the immorality in our culture today. Why do

people have sex before marriage? They are selfish. They don’t want to wait to

commit themselves to each other. They want the fringe benefits of marriage

without the commitment that goes along with it. And why do people commit

adultery after they have been married? Selfishness. They don’t care about their

mate; they want to have a little fun.Do you know someone that has a need right

now? Someone you can reach out to? Someone who is hurting? If you wait to

feel love for people, you will never do anything. If you wait until you feel like

putting that relationship back together, it will never get put back together. Will you

do it by faith? Will you do it in obedience? If you will, then you can live a joyful

But if you run around living for self-fulfillment, then you will be miserable. If you

will remember your purpose on earth is to glorify God and to love others, then

you will find the personal fulfillment you always wanted. And you will find

happiness as well.

Jesus Is Coming Soon, Are You Prepared? By Christi Miller

Can you imagine living in the days of the prophets when they were prophesying of the coming of the Messiah?
Can you imagine wondering if that child that was just born is going to be this Messiah that was prophesied of?
Can you imagine waiting for this Messiah to come and save you from this wicked world we live in?
People must have been wondering "Well, when is He going to get here?"  And saying, "He sure is taking a long time to get here!"
Well this Messiah has come and His name is Jesus.
The prophets in the bible told us of the coming of the Messiah, and in God?s time He came.
In Micah 5:2 it was prophesied, "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." (niv)
This Prophecy was fulfilled in Luke 2:4-7, "So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them." (niv)
In Isaiah 7:14 it was prophesied, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." (kjv)
Wow! Hundreds of years later our Messiah was born! God gave us a Savior to bring us back to Him the way He had always intended it for us.
This Prophecy was fulfilled in Luke 1:26-31, "In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus." (niv)
In John 3:16 Jesus Himself tells us, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (niv)
Jesus was to be the sacrifice for our sins; He paid the price to set us free, all we need to do is believe in Him as our Lord and Savior!!
Romans 10:9-10 tells us how to do this, "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." (niv)
John also tells us in 1 John 4:9-10, "This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." (niv)
This is true love!!
I tell you all this because our Messiah, Jesus Christ is coming back again to get His Church.
Jesus told us this in John 14:1-4, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." (niv)
Jesus also told us the way to get there in John 14:5-6, Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (niv)
That's how we get to heaven, through our belief in Jesus as our Lord and Savior and living for Him!!
Just as those who were waiting for the birth of their Messiah in the days of the prophets, we are waiting for the return of our Messiah today.
It's not a matter of if He is coming back; it's a matter of when He's coming back. Each generation had been looking for and waiting for His return. I believe His return is so near.
Romans 13:11 tells us this, "And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh." (niv)
Look at all the turmoil, the devastating weather occurrences, and the divisiveness of people in our world today. Jesus said these things were going to happen as His return drew closer. Read Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21.
There's no need to be caught off guard if you look at God's Word and what He tells us in it.
Please take the time to read all the scriptures I have referenced in this writing.
If you haven't given your life to Jesus yet, I plead with you to ask Him to reveal Himself to you and then I ask that you make a decision to give your life to Him. Again, in Romans it tells us "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
 It's as simple as that!!
And if you've already received Jesus as your Lord and Savior pass this along to someone who may not have done that yet, share His love and offer of the gift of salvation.

The Return-By Pastor Michael

Jesus said:
Luke 21:24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Many people believe and I concur, that this prophecy has been fulfilled. Let me explain. In 586 BC, after completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah's king of Jerusalem's reign, Nebuchadnezzar broke through Jerusalem's walls, conquering the city. Since then, many nations sacked or inhabited Jerusalem until 70 AD when the Roman Empire completely destroyed the Temple, burned the city and killed over a million Jews and drove them out of the city for some 1900 years, until 1948, when the Jews were given back Israel. This was prophesied and fulfilled as written inEzekiel 37:12, Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
However, Jerusalem was still inhabited by the Arab Nations, Jordan being one of those Nations. Then in 1967, Israel took back Jerusalem in the six day war and it has been under control of the Jews ever since. "The time of the Gentile be fulfilled".
The Six-Day War between Israel and its Arab neighbors ends with a United Nations-brokered cease-fire. The outnumbered Israel Defense Forces achieved a swift and decisive victory in the brief war, rolling over the Arab coalition that threatened the Jewish state and more than doubling the amount of territory under Israel’s control. The greatest fruit of victory lay in seizing the Old City of Jerusalem from Jordan; thousands of Jews wept while bent in prayer at the Second Temple’s Western Wall.
I say all of this too bring you to what happens next. I believe the next big prophetic event will be the rapture of the Church. I do not know when this will occur, however, I do know it is soon, very soon. Paul wrote in Romans 11 that Israel would be blinded until the last of the Gentile come in. This means Jesus will rapture the church when the last of the gentile comes in. Comes into what, I believe that means the last gentile to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit while the church is on the earth. Romans 11:25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Now no one truly knows when this will happen but if you follow the word of God and pay close attention to His prophesies, you have to come to the conclusion (as I have) that His return is nearer than you believe. This, I believe is the next glorified event in God's time continuum and we must prepare ourselves for it by making sure we are right with Jesus. And what do I mean by that, simple: We must believe that Jesus is who He says He is and believe that He is the Savior of mankind and accept Him into your heart before this next great amazing event occurs. Believe me when I say this, you do not want to be on the earth after Jesus removes the Church. I will leave that study to another time.

If you want to know what you must do to receive Christ, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please share this with as many as Jesus lays on your heart.
